Can I earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points?2025-03-17T15:03:31+02:00

Delegates earn the course credits if they submit a PoE for assessment and moderation.

Once they have been found competent, they can earn the credits. These delegates will receive a certificate of attendance, completion and competence.

Delegates who choose not to submit a PoE for assessment and moderation will receive a certificate of attendance.

The Afroteq Academy will consider offering payment plans for individuals enrolling in the Occupational Qualification: Facilities Manager programme.

What is Notional Hours?2025-03-17T15:02:06+02:00

Notional learning hours are the estimated time it takes the average student to achieve the specified learning outcomes of the training programme.

It includes all the time to achieve the relevant learning outcomes, e.g., direct study, practical and project work, private study and assessment.

The credit provides a means to quantify learning outcomes achieved in notional learning hours at a given level.

  • One credit is awarded for 10 notional hours of successful learning activity.
  • Credit is awarded for achieving the specified learning outcome.

Courses

Facilitated In-Person Training

  • Training material, in-class exercises and stationery
  • Tea/Coffee will be served on arrival and during the mid-morning and afternoon breaks, as well as a light lunch. Please note that there is a surcharge for Kosher and Halaal meals
  • One month of access to the Afroteq Academy online training portal after the training
  • Online access to downloadable training material and class activities and view access to complimentary subject matter videos and the presentation
  • Online access to group chats to share ideas, pose questions and interact with delegates and the facilitator.

Blended Online Training

  • Electronic training material, in-class exercises
  • Two-month access to the Afroteq Academy online training portal per programme during and after the training
  • Online access to downloadable training material and class activities and view access to complimentary subject matter videos and the presentation
  • Online access to group chats to share ideas, pose questions and interact with delegates and the facilitator.
What is a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)?2025-03-17T15:03:06+02:00

A Portfolio of Evidence is a compilation of academic work and other forms of education evidence assembled to:

  1. Evaluate coursework quality, learning progress and academic achievement
  2. Determine whether the student has met the learning standards
  3. Help students reflect on their educational goals and progress as learners
  4. Create a lasting archive of academic work products, accomplishments and other documentation

The PoE is assessed and moderated by registered industry-related professionals. Once the delegate is competent, their POE is submitted to the accreditation body so that the results can be uploaded to the National Learner’s Records Database NLRD.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?2025-03-17T15:14:10+02:00

RPL or Recognition of Prior Learning is the skills, qualifications, knowledge and experience you obtained during your lifetime.

Your learning experience may have been through formal learning, e.g., at college, university, or accredited education bodies. You may also have gained knowledge through short courses or in-house training during your career. You can use these skills and qualifications to earn credits for formal qualifications.

The RPL process allows you to identify your skills, have them assessed, and have them formally acknowledged in a qualification form.

What is the National Qualifications Framework (NQF)?2025-03-17T15:14:45+02:00

The National Qualifications Framework Act, 67 of 2008, provides for the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The NQF is a comprehensive system approved by the Minister of Higher Education and Training to classify, register and publish articulated and quality-assured national and part qualifications.
